Stoned Kitties

My dear hub gently reminded me that I've been spending more time playing with and shopping for sewing machines than I have actually sewing. Very true.
So today we fixed the spongebob pillow on the serger-testing out the wooly nylon and a wide stitch/short length. The flannel frays badly and I hope this does it. With the leftover scraps we made some catnip toys for the kitties.
They turned out well, and none have been destroyed yet. It was cute to see Missy, the old girl playful. Boots, on the other hand, was greedy and decided to slobber over all three catnip toys. He is such a jerk, I swear. Hogs the window, the litter box, the food.....and I picked him out.

Anyway, I got that done, and also cut out a blanket for Logie's teacher. Have to finish it and a matching hat before she pops. Due in a month, but she's already running out of steam. I wonder why, she only runs after maniac 2 year olds every day!

My Favorite Sewing Machine

Is a beat up, grimy old Willcox & Gibbs chainstitcher. I smile just looking at it. It was seized when I got it for 20 bucks. With a lot of patience, WD 40, begging and pleading, it came back to life. It stitched a sweet stitch on its first threading (which I did half assed, for the record)
I just got most of the attachments in another purchase, clean as a whistle, and they all fit right in. The simplicity of the mechanisms are fun, and once we jigsaw a base for the treadle it will be used often.

At some point I will dismantle, strip and refinish this little baby. I found a site that sells repro decals.

But for now it's on my shelf, tucked away safely till I can play with it again.

So Here it goes

How is it that I have all these scrambled thoughts begging to be stored somewhere, yet when I sit down and create a blog I have nothing to say?
